Haram and Halal Jobs Basic Rules:

1. Fundamentals of Haram and Halal Jobs

Rules for What does Islam define as a haram business?

a)       You cannot hold any positions in that company if the primary aspect of your work is prohibited by Islam. As an example, you are not permitted to work for any organization that is centered on the sale or promotion of alcohol. since drinking is a serious sin. You therefore cannot apply for any position in that company if the primary activity there is wholly haram.

You may work for that company as long as the principal activity is not prohibited, but you may not hold a position that is directly related to providing haram services. For instance, if a five-star hotel serves alcohol, you wouldn’t work at the bars; instead, you’d be a cook, a receptionist, or a cashier. But the hotel’s main service shouldn’t be for alcoholics.

c)       All other employment that is lawful and compliant with Islamic principles is halal.
