Grammy-winning Afrobeat rapper Burna Boy converts to Islam and has talked candidly about his spiritual path, saying that even though he studied other religions and converted from Christianity to Islam, he is still unsure of his faith.

The musician, whose name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, stated in a recent interview with Plaqueboymax, that he was raised as a Christian simply because of his parents’ religion and where he was born.

He explained that when he made the conscious decision to convert to Islam, he went on search of different religions to get a better understanding.

Burna Boy said: “Of course, because that’s what your parents believe and that’s what you were born into. Growing up, I was a Christian and then I converted to Islam. It’s like I’ve studied it all, but I’m still out here trying to find out what is really going on, you know? The more I research, the more confused I get.”

The “African Giant” musician is recognized for fusing Afrobeat with world sounds and has spoken about spirituality and self-discovery in his music and interviews.
