Dua after Azan:ย Azan(Adhan) is the call to pray to the Masjid, the call of Allah, the call to success. Muslims need to pray five times a day, at different times. We as Muslims should listen to the Azan carefully and try to repeat it in our minds. Stop anything you are doing, sit up straight and listen. And after that, you can pray a dua, which many of us Muslims donโt know, the Dua after Azan which we will discuss here.
What is Azan/Adhan?
ย
The term โAzanโ or โAdhan,โ which is derived from the Arabic language, literally means โto listen, to be informed about, or to announce,โ is known as the โcall to prayerโ in Islam. The muezzin recites Adhan five times a day (Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha) to summon the Muslim Ummah and invite them to gather for prayer.
Even though it is brief, the Adhan communicates the significance of the Islamic practice of Salah (Namaz) by emphasizing the need for people to quit everything and pray as soon as Allah SWT calls upon them.
What Role Does the Adhan Play in Islam?
ย
It has been reported that one must recite the Adhan even if they are praying alone because it is a Sunnah of Allah SWTโs Messenger (PBUH). The call to prayer confirms that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the last Messenger and attests to the unity of Allah SWT.
Adhan also reminds Muslims that Salah is required and that they must respond when Allah SWT calls upon them.

Dua after Adhan English Translation: โO Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of)], then my intercession for him will be allowed on the Day of Resurrectionโ. (Sahih Al Bukhari, 614)
Hadith on Dua after Azan:
ย
Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) narrated that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, โWhoever after listening to the Adhan says,ย โAllahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qaโimah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu,โ then my intercession for him becomes binding on the day of resurrection.โ
Amr Ibn Al-as related,ย hearing the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) of Allah SWT say when asked how to perform the dua after Adhan, โWhen you hear the Muadhin (caller to prayer) then say as he says, then send salutations upon me (once the Adhan is finished, as during the Adhan, one is replying to the Adhan itself), as the one who asks Allah to send peace and salutations upon me, Allah sends ten mercies upon him.
โThen ask Allah to grant me Al-wasilah, a place in Jannah, which is only befitting for one slave of Allah, and I hope that I am that one slave. Whoever asks Allah to grant me Al-Wasilah, (my) intercession (for him) becomes binding.โ (Muslim)
Hadith on listening to Adhan in correct etiquette
ย
1) Be respectful:
Respecting other people is essential. Stay focused on the task at hand and avoid being a distraction. Turning both our phones and our friendsโ phones on mute can help us avoid becoming sidetracked. Some people hold the opinion that speaking during adhan is forbidden, yet there is no reliable hadith to support this. It all boils down to common sense: going to the mosque is a spiritual experience, and being obtrusive is never appealing.
2)Repeating after Muezzin
The best course of action when listening to azan is to just repeat after the muezzin.
โSome of my companions told me that Hisham had said, โWhen the Muโadh-dhin said, โHaiyi `alassala (come for the prayer).โ Muawiya said, โLa hawla wala quwata illa billah (There is neither might nor any power except with Allah)โ and added, โWe heard your Prophet saying the same.โ Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 613 In-book reference : Book 10, Hadith 11
Allahโs Messenger (pbuh) said, โWhenever you hear the Adhan, say what the Muโadh-dhin is saying. Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 612 In-book reference : Book 10, Hadith 10
โWhen you hear the Muโadhin calling for the prayer, repeat his words then ask Allahโs blessings upon me, because the one who asks Allahโs blessings upon me once will be rewarded ten blessings by Allah.โ
