This is a dua made explicitly by Prophet Ibrahim a.s. The magnificence of this dua is that he started off by utilizing the word (hab) – which originated from the word (hibah) in Arabic, and signifies ‘gift’. As such, he is stressing the way that intelligence is a gift from Allah s.w.t which, we, as people, have no right over without His blessing.

As searchers of information, we should continually look for His pleasure with the expectation that he allows us the best and most delightful end in chasing knowledge. “O Allah. I beg You for that which incites Your Mercy and the means of Your forgiveness, safety from every sin, the benefit from every good deed, success in attaining Jannah, and deliverance from Fire.”

(Mustadrak Al-Hakim)

Dua for success in the afterlife and in this world

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fiddunia hasanatan wa fil aakhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘azabannar

“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah: 201)

In the event that the course to success is a breeze we won’t enjoy its pleasantness. As people, we won’t ever be liberated from tests or difficulties. Life itself is a test for the afterlife.

The Prophet s.a.w. referenced:

عِظَمُ الْجَزَاءِ مَعَ عِظَمِ الْبَلاَءِ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا أَحَبَّ قَوْمًا ابْتَلاَهُمْ فَمَنْ رَضِيَ فَلَهُ الرِّضَا وَمَنْ سَخِطَ فَلَهُ السُّخْطُ

“The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah)

A trial is a gift from Allah s.w.t; it very well may be a redirection along your journey to redirect you from a potential disaster or mishap. When tried, Allah s.w.t refines us and here and there uncovers our own deficiencies and shortcomings. Through this acknowledgment, we will actually want to correct those parts of life.

As Muslims, it is without a doubt our most extreme obligation to know about how nothing occurs besides by the desire of Allah s.w.t. The ability to invest hard energy, the blessings, and, surprisingly, the accomplishments in our day-to-day existence are from Him s.w.t.

Consequently, the component of Tawakkal (dependence on Allah) should be available in our souls while taking looking for success throughout everyday life. To look for His direction prior to looking for your own prosperity is fundamental.

فَاِذَا عَزَمۡتَ فَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى اللّٰهِ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الۡمُتَوَكِّلِيۡنَ

“What’s more, when you have chosen, then, at that point, depend upon Allah. For sure, Allah cherishes the individuals who depend (upon Him).”

(Surah Ali-‘Imran, 3:159)

At last, being a fruitful Muslim is the point at which you’ve achieved Allah s.w.t’s pleasure in this world and the great beyond. Achievement is something other than a title, it is a sensation of happiness and harmony. May Allah favor us with the decency of the two universes.

What’s more, Allah knows best.
