We often feel powerless to help the Sudanese people as their struggle goes on.
As fighting that started in April 2023 continues to disrupt the lives of residents throughout the nation, our brothers and sisters are dealing with widespread starvation, displacement, and brutality.
Here, we look at a few duas and prayers we might say in support of Sudan.
When should I offer a dua for Sudan?
Although we can offer sincere prayers for our Sudanese brothers and sisters at any time, there are some days or situations when they are more likely to be answered.
Here are a few of them:
- The last third of the night: At this time, Allah (SWT) is stated to descend to the lowest heaven and say, “Who is calling me, so that I may answer him? Who is requesting that I grant him? Who is asking for my forgiveness so that I might forgive him? [Hadith| Bukhari]
- The final ten Ramadan days and nights: Especially on the night of power, Laylatul Qadr.
- The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) is claimed to have said, “A dua offered between the adhan and iqamah is not rejected,” according to a sahih source [Hadith | Abu Dawud & Al-Tirmidhi].
- On Fridays: There is an hour when, if a Muslim occurs to pray at that time and ask Allah for something nice, Allah will grant him whatever he is supplicating for; there are several perspectives of the Ulama on the exact moment of acceptance; two of the most renowned adopted interpretations are: 1. From Asr till Maghrib; 2. From the time the Imam sits for the Friday Khutbah until Salah is finished.
- When travelling or on a journey, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) stated that Allah (SWT) will not reject three supplications: the supplication of the parent for his kid, the supplication of the fasting person, and the supplication of the traveller. [Hadith | Tirmidhi]
- When breaking the fast: As previously stated, the Prophet (PBUH) stated that a person who is fasting will not have their dua denied. [Hadith | Tirmidhi]
- When pleading on behalf of someone who is not present: “There is no believing servant who supplicates for his brother in his absence where the angels do not say, ‘the same be for you,'” declared the Prophet (PBUH). [Muslim | Hadith]
[Hadith | Muslim]The supplication of a Muslim for his (Muslim) brother in his absence will certainly be answered. Everytime he makes a supplication for good for his brother, the angel appointed for this particular task says: ‘Ameen! May it be for you, too’.
Keeping those in need in Sudan and throughout the world in our prayers is crucial because humble and sincere prayers can have a significant positive impact on our lives.
