Why is it haram to celebrate April Fool’s Day in Islam? As April Fool’s Day draws closer, many people will start lying to other people and make fun of them by making them a fool, which is totally against Islam!

Muhammad (PBUH), the final messenger of Allah, was referred to as “Muhammad, the trustworthy” because of his trustworthiness. Lying is regarded as one of the greatest sins in Islam and is prohibited as a behavior for Muslims.

On April Fool’s Day, we frequently witness people telling lies to trick other people, which is totally against Islam. Islam forbids using deceit to trick people into believing something. Still, some Muslims ask “Why is it haram to celebrate April Fool’s Day in Islam?”

Even Muslims start lying to celebrate this day. celebrating it is a means to disobey Allah’s and his last Prophet’s teachings.

Not only on this day, but frequently throughout the year as well, we tell lies to protect ourselves or to make others happy, but by doing so, we unintentionally let this lie consume all of our good deeds and hinder our ability to join Jannah.

Prophet Muhammad SAW is said to have finished this Deen in his last sermon. Additionally, he forbade everyone from lying throughout his existence and never lied himself. In a way, we are disobeying what our prophet told us to do by celebrating April Fool’s Day. Let’s learn more about Why is it haram to celebrate April Fool’s Day in Islam?

Hadith about lying (lying on April Fool’s Day)

Being a man of truth, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never lied. Because he stated in numerous hadiths that one should never deceive, not even intentionally. It’s preferable to hurt with the truth than to make yourself feel better with a lie!

Mu‘awiyah ibn Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Woe to him who speaks and tells lies so as to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him!”

[Al-Tirmidhi, 235]

This Hadith contains a strong warning against lying as well as a threat of destruction for anyone who intentionally speaks lies to amuse or make people laugh. One of the most abhorrent acts, it is severely prohibited. The believer must avoid it and consider himself to be far above it because it pertains to evil behavior. Except in the few instances where lying is permitted by Shariah, a devotee should refrain from lying at all times. It is forbidden to listen to lies that are known to be lies, just as it is forbidden to utter lies in good fun. Rather, it is the listeners’ responsibility to voice their displeasure.

Hadith about imitating others

April Fool’s Day History

April Fools’ Day, also known as All Fools’ Day, is a day of practical jokes and hoaxes. Its origins are uncertain, but some historians believe that it dates back to ancient Rome. The Romans celebrated a festival called Hilaria on March 25th, which marked the vernal equinox and the beginning of the new year.

During Hilaria, people would dress up in costumes and play pranks on each other. This tradition may have evolved into April Fools’ Day, which is celebrated on April 1st in many countries around the world.

One popular theory about the origins of April Fools’ Day involves the adoption of the Gregorian calendar in 1582. Prior to this, the new year was celebrated on March 25th, with a week-long festival that culminated on April 1st. When the new calendar was introduced, some people continued to celebrate the new year on April 1st, while others began to celebrate it on January 1st. Those who continued to celebrate on April 1st were often the victims of pranks and hoaxes.

Another theory suggests that April Fools’ Day has its roots in the medieval Feast of Fools, which was celebrated in some European countries during the 12th century. During the Feast of Fools, people would elect a “lord of misrule” who would preside over a day of revelry and pranks.

However, many Muslims believe that April Fool’s Day is the day when Muslims were defeated in Spain.

April Fool’s Day, little the Muslims know, that the day of April Fool signifies the foolishness of Muslims. there are many theories with regards to what this day was about but the strongest one that makes the most sense that historically has been documented by the Muslims is that April the first was the day in which the Muslims were defeated in Spain, the last stronghold of the Muslims in Granada was taken away and the Muslims were defeated. and the reason why they called in April Fool’s was because this was the day that marked the trick and the foolishness of the Muslims because the Kafirs had destroyed the taqwa of the Muslims by introducing alcohol and selling these things. slowly slowly the effects of the sins of the Muslims moved them away from the book of Allah which had once honored them. and then they went away from that book and now they were humiliated. and because they were able to infiltrate them because they left the religion on that day first of April, they said “this is the day of the trick of April, this is the day of April fools and the fools are none other than the Muslims” how many of you knew that fact?

Many of us didn’t know because we are heedless, we’re blind. brothers and sisters take this day as a reminder of the effects of sins. about 800 years the Muslims ruled Spain quoted about was their biggest city. it was equivalent to New York and Paris and Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Dubai. all in one it was the first city. it was the largest populated city in the entire world. it was the first city with street lamps. we had civilization, we had all of it and it was taken away because most of them left the Quran and the Sunnah. their sins overcame them.
