“Musa (Moses) said, ‘Lord, lift up my heart and ease my task for me. Untie my tongue, so that they may understand my words, and give me a helper from my family, my brother Harun (Aaron) – augment my strength through him. Let him share my task so that we can glorify You much and remember You often: You are always watching over us.” [20:25-35]

Story of Prophet Harun in Quran

Prophet Harun (A.S.), who had a talent for public speaking, frequently spoke in place of Prophet Musa (A.S.), who had a speech impairment. He played a significant role in educating the Israelites about the form of worship outlined in the relevant portion of the Torah.

According to Islam, Prophet Harun (A.S.) had nothing to do with the Israelites’ decision to worship the golden calf. Instead, he was beaten and threatened with death by his people. When Hazrat Musa (A.S.) returned from the mount, he instantly accused Hazrat Harun (A.S.) and grabbed him by the beard. However, Prophet Harun (A.S.) then explained what had happened, and Prophet Musa (A.S.) then pleaded to Allah for both of them to be forgiven.

The Prophet (SAW) reportedly said: “You are in the same position with regard to me as Harun was with regard to Musa, with (this distinct difference) that there is no prophet after me,” according to Amir bin Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (on the authority of his father). [Muslim]

According to legend, Prophet Harun (A.S.) lived for 122 years.
