Story of Prophet Ishaq in Islam

Story of Prophet Ishaq (AS): When Ibrahim (AS) and his first wife Sarah (p.b.u.h.) were old, angels appeared to them in human form to bring them both good and bad news. The Good News was that the couple will have a son, whom they named Ishaq, and the bad news was that Allah (s.w.t.) would kill the people of Lut (p.b.u.h).

He was sent to the area of Shaam (Shaam includes Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Jordan). Surah As-Saffat has 113 verses in all, all revealed by Allah SWT. Allah SWT claimed in this verse that God informed Ibrahim (AS) of the good news of traveling to Ishaq (AS). When Ishaq (AS) was older, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) advised him to wed a member of his family. As a result, Ishaq (AS) wed his cousin Rafqah, who was the daughter of Batwil. Ishaq (AS) had twin sons, Isa (Esau) and Yaqub, from Rafqah (AS).

The son of Ishaq (AS) wed the daughter of Ismail (AS), who also had a son by the name of Ar-Rum (AS). Ishaq was proclaimed to be a prophet by Allah SWT in Surah Sad (45–7) of the holy Quran (AS).

At Kannan, the Prophet Ishaq (pbuh) commanded his followers to walk in Allah’s (swt) way. He moved his son Yaqub (Jacob) to Hebron, Palestine when he became old and went blind. Prophet Ishaq (p.b.u.h) passed away at the age of 180 and was buried next to his father, Ibrahim (p.b.u.h). The holy Quran makes fifteen mentions of Prophet Ishaq (AS).
