A viral video being shared on social media purports to show Andrew Tate, a contentious influencer who was recently interviewed by Piers Morgan after being banned from all social media sites, has converted to Islam.
On Sunday, October 23, controversial influencer Andrew Tate’s post about purportedly converting to Islam was shared by the @GodListensToDua Twitter account. As comments continue to saturate social media, the post has gone viral.
Andrew Tate: who is he?
Andrew Tate is a professional fighter who was born in the United States and is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom. He currently works as a commentator for the Romanian MMA promotion Real Xtreme Fighting.
Tate and his brother Tristan supposedly made their riches running the adult cam website “myfreecams.” They hired women to engage in chat conversations with males in which the men would then tip the ladies after the women whined about personal misfortunes and claimed to need money.
The two brothers were interviewed by The Daily Mirror in March. In the interview, Tristan said that the business was a “big scam to sell gory stories to desperate men”.
The caption stated, “Andrew Tate, banned from all social media platforms, learns to pray salah from his close Arab friend in Dubai”.
In response to the video, Twitter users wrote: “As Muslims, Allah (swt) has given us so many role models. Islam is a religion where you literally need not look elsewhere. Where did we go wrong for our young men to take people like Andrew tate as role models over the prophets? Ahlul Bayt? The companions? الله المستعان”
In the words of one commenter, Andrew Tate “actively trying to stir up issues between Islam & Christianity out of ignorance.” These faiths have reconciled with one another. Let’s not turn back from one individual who enjoys listening to himself talk.
